Policy Change Regarding Personal API Keys

Hey all!

I’ve got some important news about how personal API keys work with my extension.

If you’ve been using your own API keys with my extension, please take a minute to read the updated guidelines:

While I don’t officially support or suggest this option, the code is open and can be modified. Because it runs on your own computer, you could adjust it to use your own credentials if you need to tweet beyond the default limit. But remember:

  • If you decide to use your own Twitter App and API keys to get past the standard limit, it’s entirely on you. For more info, take a look at this article: https://twittercommunity.com/t/policy-clarification-multiple-applications-for-the-same-use-case/92080
  • Only make these changes if you’re okay with the risks, and make sure to use a secondary or throwaway Twitter account, not your main one.
  • Do not to use ‘SAMMI’ in the name or description of your project or app. This is to make sure we follow Twitch’s rules and avoid any problems. Rather, specify that it’s for your own personal project. Watch the step-by-step guide video here:

The best way to handle these changes is to delete your current Twitter project and app, and start a new one. This will make sure everything runs smoothly with my extension.

Please consult the Setup guide at https://sammi.solutions/extensions/social/twitter#pills-setup for more details.

Thanks for your support!
